Fourth Class |

'
On Wednesday morning, the 6th March 4th class visited DePuy's Headquarters in Ringaskiddy and were given a great tour. After some photos and a great welcome, the class heard how robots were being utilised in DePuy and how they were programmed. They heard from Donal Óg Cusack who spoke to them at length about the wind turbine on site and the importance of the turbine to the business (the class had plenty of questions on this). The 'virtual reality' glasses proved very popular along with 'Dash' and 'Dot' the onsite bee-bots. Finally the class got a tour of the 3D printing and design area before having lunch and heading back to school.
What a great morning and experience for all that travelled. 4th class got a real appreciation and insight into some of the amazing work being carried out in DePuy. Thanks to Depuy for giving the class such a great insight into the day to day running of the company. In particular thanks to Claire and Noreen who have been in the school the last number of weeks and who facilitated the visit on Wednesday. Thanks to all teachers and Master O' Brien who went with the class on Wednesday. They all added to what was a wonderful experience.
4th class love having a regular quiz through the use of the school Ipads. Kahoot is a great app to make quizzes and allow the children to see their progress on the Interactive Whiteboard.

Claire and Noreen from DePuy were back again on Wednesday morning. The class were really excited to see them and also excited to learn what they would be doing. The class got the opportunity through 'Lego' to construct their robots. It was fantastic for them as they got to use the Lego, work in teams and had to follow the instructions carefully step by step. It was a really exciting morning and a great start to the day. We look forward to next week already.
There was great excitement in 4th class on Wednesday morning, the 16th January when Claire and Noreen from DePuy began their 8 week programme with the class. The children were fascinated when given an introduction to some of the work that is carried out in DePuy. Each small group had the use of their own laptop and they learned about programming, various sensors and other equipment that they use. It was very practical. It was only the first week but the class can't wait until next Wednesday again.
Yoga - Sept 2018
4th class got the opportunity to do Yoga in the hall. Thanks to Ms Dorgan for doing it with them. They really enjoyed it and will continue to improve on their poses over the next few weeks!
